Allows encapsulation of cells / organisms using sterile conditions in a wide particle size as required each specific application: cell therapy, biodiversity searches, rapid studies of cell susceptibility, vaccines, etc.

The main advantages are: Methodology in sterile conditions, disposable nozzles, particle size selection to obtain equal particles from less than 100 microns to over hundreds of microns and individual encapsulation of microorganisms in very small particle sizes without loosing bioavility.

A company is seeking Techniques for small-defect metrology using a known artifact to calibrate the measuring equipment.

Desired outcome: you provide a calibration technique so that an artifact possessing a known dimensional feature or defect that is representative of a feature that could be seen in an item-under-test can be used to calibrate the machine that measures the defects. The difference between a known artifact and the answer produced by the equipment used to measure it will allow calculation of the ‘uncertainty’ of measurement for that measuring equipment. The artifact must meet NIST standards.

Desired outcome: more effective ways to move non-systemic or non-translaminar pesticide molecules into a plant waxy cuticle layer and/or through guard cells (stomata). It would be even better if these molecules could penetrate into epidermal cells. (Proof of principle data you provide will help determine the acceptability of your solution).

A company is seeking methods to reliably extract skin microflora samples from the skin surface including, skin folds, etc.

Desired outcome: inventive methods to reliably extract bacteria, yeast, and fungi samples from both the skin surface and deep in the skin from human test subjects. They want to obtain the best possible representative samples. These methods need to obtain samples from areas such as deep skin folds, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, and hair follicles, not just the top layers of the skin. Critically the sampling technique must not destroy DNA/RNA as this needs to be preserved.
